Mini Tummy Tuck

A mini tummy tuck is a smaller procedure designed to improve the contour of the abdomen only below the belly button. It is best for patients who have subtle skin and fat excesses of the lower abdomen or unattractive scars from previous surgery (such as a C-section). It is possible to tighten the muscles, but only below the belly button and in smaller amounts than with the traditional tummy tuck..

Tummy tuck procedures can be performed alone, but are best combined with liposelection of the thighs and hips for ideal body contouring. A mini tummy tuck should not be considered as a treatment for obesity, or a substitute for proper diet and exercise.Read Client Reviews on RealSelf

Anaesthesia & Stay

The duration of the procedure is approximately 3 – 4 hours. the procedure can be done under regional or general anaesthesia as a day care procedure. Overnight stay is recommended if combined with another procedure.

Procedure

A mini tummy tuck procedure requires a single incision just above the pubic area, as the position of the navel is unaffected and an incision around the navel is not required.

The skin and fat layers that lie above the abdominal wall are separated and lifted upward toward the navel to expose the abdominal muscles of the lower abdomen.

To tighten the abdomen, the abdominal muscles are sutured, pulling them closer together, which creates a flatter, firmer abdominal wall and a slimmer waistline. The skin and fat that hangs beyond the original incision line is removed.

To prevent fluid build up as you heal, drainage tubes will likely be placed in the abdomen, and will remain in place for 48 hours. The incisions will be sutured and dressings and bandages will be applied.

Post Op Recovery

For the first few days, you’re likely to feel some pain and discomfort which can be controlled by medication. Swelling, tenderness, numbness of abdominal skin, bruising, and tiredness, some, or all of these can last up to several weeks.

Dressings are changed every other day for the first 2 weeks. Surface stitches if any will be removed in 5-7 days.

You will be required to wear a tight corset for a month post op 24×7. Most people return to work after 4 – 7 days, while others might take 2 weeks to rest and recuperate.

Exercise will help you heal better, vigorous exercise, however, should be avoided until you can do it comfortably.

Your New Look

After surgery, you have a flatter & trimmer abdomen. There may be an improvement in the number of stretch marks, especially those located below the navel, The results are permanent, if you follow a balanced diet and exercise regularly.
