ARMS LIPOSUCTION
ABOUT ARMS LIPOSUCTION
Liposuction of the arms is one of the most popular liposuction procedures that is performed on healthy patients especially females. Most of the women do not really prefer to have an accumulation of fat in the body. So to address this fat present in the hand, liposuction is considered as the best procedure to eliminate the bulky appearance.
Therefore, to perform liposuction of the arms, Tumescent Liposuction is considered as the best option that exclusively includes a local anesthesia on the area of treatment. It also includes limited blood loss and accurate contouring at the area of treatment. A microcannula is used during the procedure that includes the making of numerous incisions. However, Laser Liposuction can also be used to serve this purpose. In fact, laser liposuction may give the best results since it can satisfactorily tighten the skin without including any major bleeding and bruising.

PROCEDURE
During the procedure, the surgeon usually makes a tiny incision on the skin that is typically near the elbow or the armpit crease then a thin tube called the cannula is inserted into the fatty areas. A narrow thin cannula is used to break the fat deposits and chisel the area to the desired proportions. The undesired fat is then suctioned out with a high-pressure vacuum leaving the skin, muscles, and nerve uninterrupted.
In the Tumescent Liposuction technique, large amounts of liquid solution are injected into the area of treatment. This liquid makes the fat deposits easier to loosen up and is extracted out of the body. The fluid helps in minimizing the trauma to the surrounding tissues and helps to reduce the swelling and post-operative swelling.
A recent method which is an ultrasound assisted liposuction that uses sound waves to liquefy the fat after the injection of the fluids. In UAL the trauma, bruising and blood loss may be particularly useful at the fibrous areas of the body. However, in either of the procedures, the surgeon may require one or two hours to complete the procedure.
The Liposuction of the arms is normally carried out on an outpatient basis since it is performed under local anesthesia with light sedation. But if the surgeon estimates that the procedure would require a long time then general anesthesia may also be recommended. Due to the local sedation administered in the treated area, the candidates do not experience any pain or discomfort.
Preparation before, during and after the procedure
Few days before undergoing the liposuction of the arms the candidate is made to undergo few tests to determine if they are eligible for the procedure. Usually, people with ideal weight can undergo the procedure. The patients are instructed not to take some medicines that may interrupt the healing procedure or increase the chances of complications.
On the day of the surgery, the areas of the body are marked by the surgeon to achieve the desired results. The candidates are then administered with the required dose of sedation to ensure that the patient does not experience any pain or discomfort during the procedure.
After the completion of the procedure, the patients may feel mild discomfort or pain at the incision sites. However, in most of the cases, the incisions are kept open for the drainage of the anesthetic fluid. The candidate can go back to their home after the procedure. But the aftercare and post-op instructions provided by the surgeon must be followed strictly by the patient.
LIMITATIONS
-
Typically the liposuction of the arms helps us to achieve a pleasing contour for the arms. But it is very crucial to remember that liposuction cannot alter the skin quality or muscle tone. In fact, after undergoing the procedure the results must be preserved by maintaining a healthy diet and exercise. Though liposuction is relatively a safe procedure still there are some risks associated with the liposuction of the arms:
- Though liposuction is most commonly performed, there are certain complications or risks associated with the procedure
- The candidates may experience cellulite, unevenness, numbness, scarring, discoloration or sagging of the skin at the treated area. A revision procedure may solve such issues
- If liposuction is performed by UAL procedure then there is a chance for the skin to burn due to the internal friction of the skin or internal organs.
- Other serious complications may include the formation of blood clots, infection, accumulation of excessive fluids, etc.

FAQs
QIs Liposuction Painful?
A No, patients usually experience no pain during the procedure since they are administered local or general anesthesia so they do not feel discomfort while the ongoing procedure.
QDoes It Involve Any Scarring?
A No Liposuction does not involve any scarring since the incisions are too small to be noticed and however, the minimum scar it forms is not permanent and fades away with time. But scarring caused due to any sort of infection may be permanent.
QWhy Is It So Important To Stop Certain Medications Before The Procedure?
A There are some medications and drugs that can counterpart the action of anesthesia or may be responsible for blood thinning. Now, these conditions would make the procedure complex and the chances to increase the complications becomes high. Complications include a painful procedure, bleeding while the execution of the procedure.
QWhat To Expect From The Procedure?
A Liposuction is not a treatment for obesity. People with stable weight can undergo the procedure to address targeted fat pockets at the arms. It cannot help to get rid of cellulite or sagging skin.
