Breast lift with implants
A breast augmentation combined with a breast lift or mastopexy can help numerous women to achieve breasts that appear fuller, rounder and perkier bringing a rejuvenating appearance. According to most of the surgeons if a woman undergoes breast enhancement along with a breast lift procedure then the results would be more dramatic and long-lasting. The areolar position and the nipples can also be re-positioned in this procedure into a much more centralized position. The implant added in this procedure would add volume to the breast particularly in the upper position where the breast lift alone cannot achieve the desired aesthetic goal.

To remove the excess skin the surgeons first makes incisions around the areola and the vertical areas from the lower part of the areola to the base of the breast. This scar is also termed as “lollipop scar”. The implants are placed through these incisions typically under the pectoral chest muscle. Generally, the surgeon uses silicone implants as this is relatively a safe choice. The silicone breast implants are filled with silicone gel and this gel fits naturally with the breast tissues and it brings the most natural appearance. The best part of such implants is that it does not collapse or rupture. Most importantly silicone breast implants are FDA approved for adult women.
The incisions are made in inconspicuous areas which can minimize visible scarring. The surgeon will definitely discuss all of the incision options to achieve the desired outcome. The incisions may vary depending on the type of breast implant, the degree of augmentation desired the patient’s body contour and personal preference. At the end of the procedure, the incisions are closed with layered sutures on the breast tissues and the skin is then held with skin adhesive or surgical tape. Some glandular breast tissue and extra skin may also be excised for firmer appearing breasts and to solve issues related to loose skin.
After following a breast lift procedure with implants the patient will experience some pain, bruising and swelling. However, the candidate is provided with a supporting elastic bra and also with a specific set of post-op instructions that must be followed carefully to enjoy a rapid complication-free recovery. Though recovery speed may not be same for all on, the swelling and soreness may persist for about four to six weeks. Some medications for pain and some antibiotics are prescribed to the patients. The patients can resume their normal activities after they feel fit or according to the surgeon’s instructions. Vigorous or strenuous activities can be resumed once the patient is completely fine.
Breast lift with the implants may temporarily bring a rejuvenating appearance but with age and effects of gravity, the candidates may revert to their pre-procedural condition. Moreover, the implants are not permanent and it has to be replaced after every ten years. Not only this, the surgical procedure also poses a certain amount of risk and potential complications like infection, potential scarring, seroma, leakage or rupture of the implant.
During the consultation, the surgeon will evaluate the physical condition of the patient, the amount of sagging skin and the droopiness of the breasts. The medical report is usually reviewed and then the rest of the procedure is arranged accordingly. Some medications, drugs are restricted before undergoing the procedure to avoid the chances of any sort of complications. Before beginning with the procedure the surgeon will provide the perfect dose of anesthesia and then the surgical procedure is executed to ensure that the patient experiences no pain. At the end of the procedure, the incisions are sutured up in layers and supported with a supporting bra. Patients normally need to stay overnight in the hospital and can go home, once fit.
