In General

Whenever we talk about contouring, most of the time we consider our belly that needs to be contoured to bring a sensuous appearance. But people often we need to contour the nose to change its appearance and achieve a proportionate nose. This process of nose contouring is popular as Rhinoplasty or a nose job.

Contouring Your Nose:

There are two basic approaches to a surgical rhinoplasty procedure by adding volume and by removing the volume. Certainly, there are plenty of ways to bring such changes in the nose. An example of removing nose volume can include fixing a drooping nose tip. Surgeons can also add volume to the nose by-

  • Trimming the cartilage
  • Adding implants
  • Placing some pieces of muscles, fat, and tissues in the nose
  • Some functional or positional changes can also be brought

In most cases, the surgeons make incisions in the space between two nostrils. This allows the surgeon to gain appropriate access to the nose. These are less invasive options but can bring the most desired results.

Rhinoplasty or Nose Job:

A nose job or Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure on the nose that makes changes in the appearance (shape and size) of the nose and also improves the functions of the nose. It can be done to address some aesthetic purpose and also can be done for medical reasons such as breathing problems or any birth defect.

There are various techniques for reshaping the nose which the surgeon will decide depending on individual conditions of the patients.

There are a couple of other ways to contour the nose which does not involve any surgery. A nose job can bring a wide variety of changes that can change the appearance of the nose. Rhinoplasty can bring permanent changes but there are many people who do not want to undergo any bold changes on the nose. So following the procedures that can bring small subtle changes in the nose-

  1. Non-surgical nose job- This is a type of Rhinoplasty where the surgeons use dermal fillers such as Radiesse or Voluma to sculpt the volume of the nose. However, it can only provide temporary results.
  2. Makeup- There are certain makeup techniques that involve creating false highlights and shadows in order to change the appearance of the nose. This makeup technique is also known as contouring.

What if nose job goes wrong?

Rhinoplasty is considered as the most difficult cosmetic surgical procedure. So it is very important to choose the right surgeon to avoid bad nose job results. More importantly, some results are reversible, unnoticeable while some may be noticeable. Bad nose job results are usually due to many factors. The problems that occur with Rhinoplasty are the abnormal shape of the nose, infections, damage to the nerves, numbness, excessive scarring. It has been estimated that around twenty percent of the nose surgeries will need a second Rhinoplasty revision surgery. In case of a requirement of a second procedure, the patients must wait for about a year until the treated area heals completely.

So what is important is putting a significant amount of thought into what your nose will look like, especially when it is all about bringing a proportionate appearance to the nose by undergoing a nose contouring procedure.
